This four series-workshops provides the information any home gardener needs to design and maintain a beautiful, water efficient garden, the basics in horticultural practices, and current irrigation techniques and controls.

Wednesdays, May 7 - May 28, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
All workshops held at LVMWD headquarters.

  • May 7 - Basic Landscape Design
    Insights into making your landscape a part of your living space. How to develop a landscape plan, including patios and other hardscape elements, and how to approach plant selection.

  • May 14 - California Friendly Plants
    Gain an understanding of the benefits of using “California Friendly” plants. Pick up tips on plant selection, guidelines for proper planting, and recommendations for plant care.

  • May 21 - Efficienct Irrigation Systems
    This class focuses on irrigation system design principles, equipment types and applications, and irrigation system maintenance.

  • May 28 - Soils, Fertilizers, and Watering
    Answers to the questions: Why is it important to understand my soil type? How long and how often should my sprinklers run? And, do I really need all these different types of plant fertilizers?
