Not
in our area. Two different types of water are available
for two different needs. Knowing which is which can
be important.
One is drinking water. After
traveling all the way from Northern California, this
water is extensively treated to meet stringent drinking
water regulations, before being delivered to your
home. |
 |
The second is
recycled water, recovered from the wastewater treatment
process at the Tapia Water Reclamation Facility. Though
not intended for consumption, recycled water is thoroughly
treated to pass state requirements for health and safety,
so it can replace potable water for irrigating public
landscaping. If you live near a Homeowners Association’s
common area or fountain, recycled water is likely in
use.
Recycled water lines are
purple or tan, noted by signage, or marked by purple
strips by the pipes. When you or your gardener work
on your irrigation system, take care to note the
color of pipes and where they run to avoid the mistake
of connecting the two systems. If there’s any
question whether you are working with drinking water
or recycled water lines, give us a call at 818.251.2100.
Our expert staff will let you know whether there
are recycled water lines nearby, and help assure
you keep the two systems separate.
