Include the following tips in your pre-vacation
checklist to help avoid post-vacation blues. You can protect your
property with the “lived-in” look and keep your landscape healthy.
-
Water landscape areas thoroughly with
a good soaking, especially if you have shallow soil. Have a
neighbor or your gardener watch for areas that get dry and
ask them to supplement the irrigation as needed.
-
Cut the lawn a day or two before you
leave. Trim hedges or flower beds that may overhang walkways
and borders.
-
Mulch to conserve moisture. (Pickup
compost to use as mulch)
-
Visibly check for pest problems that
could do damage while you are away.
-
Harvest and pick fruits, vegetables,
and flowers that will fade before your return.
-
And, finally, make certain your water
bill isn’t left unpaid. Consider signing up for AutoPay or
pre-pay your water bill to avoid late fees.
