20170521_115038Sponsored by Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the Solar Cup program challenges high school students from across Southern California to design and build a solar-powered boat. This seven-month program culminates in a competition held at Lake Skinner in Riverside County. During the program, students develop engineering, design, math and communication skills in a real world application.

In 2017, LVMWD sponsored Calabasas High School. This was Calabasas High School's fourth year competing in Solar Cup. The veteran team finished third overall out of the 43 teams that competed.

The Calabasas High School Solar Cup team placed first among Foothill Region schools for boat endurance and their water conservation PSA.
