As it flows from the faucet in your home, your water is completing a most amazing journey. Beginning as rain or snow that fell in the Sierras, it travels hundreds of miles to the Jensen Water Treatment Plant, which is operated by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, of which we are a member agency.
In February 2007, Jensen was shut down for maintenance to the facility and to the large pipelines that serve our area. With cooperative efforts among agencies, reserve supplies from the Las Virgenes Reservoir and conservation by our customers, we were able to continue providing reliable service despite unusually warm, dry conditions.
We also continued our program of upgrading pipelines and facilities; one example is the new pipeline that adds needed capacity through the Mulholland Highway corridor in Calabasas. An upgraded treatment process is also being installed at the Westlake Filtration Plant. |
