Located in the hills just south of Westlake Village, the reservoir can hold a six-month supply of treated drinking water for District customers. The total capacity is approximately 9,500 acre-feet. An acre-foot equals 325,851 gallons, enough water for two average families for one year. The reservoir adds reliability to the drinking water system operation. Water is drawn and treated from the reservoir, usually in the summertime, to meet high demand. It also serves as a “back-up” water supply for scheduled shutdowns for maintenance or during emergencies.
